Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended AAP MP Raghav Chadha on the penultimate day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session on Friday.
“Taking a holistic view of the gravity of his misdemeanor, violation of rules, defined attitude, and inappropriate conduct, I find it expeditious to invoke Rule 266 read along with Rule 256, and suspend Raghav Chadha from the service of the Council, until the Council has the benefit of the report by the Committee of Privileges,” Dhankhar said in announcing Chadha’s suspension.

About Raghav Chadha
Raghav Chadha is an Indian politician and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is the youngest member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, from Punjab. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in March 2022. Prior to that, he was a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from the Rajendra Nagar constituency from 2020 to 2022.
Chadha was born in Delhi in 1988. He studied economics at the University of Delhi and then went on to earn an M.Phil. in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. After graduating, he worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs.
Chadha joined the AAP in 2013. He was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in the 2020 Delhi Assembly election. He was appointed the vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board in 2020.
In March 2022, Chadha was nominated by the AAP to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab. He was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha in April 2022.
Chadha is a popular and articulate politician. He is known for his sharp wit and his ability to connect with voters. He is also a strong advocate for the AAP’s policies.
In the Rajya Sabha, Chadha is a member of the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Public Undertakings, and the Committee on Information Technology. He is also the AAP’s spokesperson in the Rajya Sabha.
Chadha is seen as a rising star in the AAP. He is likely to play a significant role in the party in the years to come.
