According to reports, the iPhone 15 series of devices will be delayed this year. Apple normally releases its new iPhone generation in September and makes it available for purchase a few days later. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the iPhone 12 series was released later than usual. Apple’s next iPhone 15 series may face a similar delay this year. According to a Bank of America (BoA) analyst, the iPhone 15 series may be released in October rather than September.
Apple iPhone 15 launch delay is also expected to have an impact on Apple’s September quarter. Another report indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would be in low supply when they are released in September due to screen manufacturing difficulties.
In his recent investment note, acquired by Barrons, BoA Global Research Analyst Wamsi Mohan says, “The launch of the iPhone 15 could be delayed by a few weeks, pushing the debut of the next-generation phone into the December quarter.” Mohan’s allegations are said to be based on supply chain audits. The analyst has also lifted his price estimate for Apple shares from $190 (about Rs. 15,000) to $210 (approximately Rs. 17,000), although he is concerned that iPhone sales for the fiscal year ending September 2023 may be lower than projected.
Mohan predicted that the iPhone 12 would be released in 2020. Due to the impact of the coronavirus on the supply chain, shipping of the iPhone 12 Pro was delayed until late October, while shipping of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max began in the second week of November.
Meanwhile, according to The Information, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in September but will be in short supply due to screen manufacturing issues. According to reports, Apple’s display suppliers are utilising a new production method for the Pro models to lower the thickness of the bezels. When this happens, the iPhone 15 Pro versions will feature a slightly larger screen.
Apple iPhone 15 series Display Problem
LG Display is apparently having production troubles, with screens failing a reliability test when fused to the metal shell of Pro models. Apple is supposed to have altered the design of LG panels in order for them to pass the reliability test, and it is said to have Samsung-made displays available for assembly. These vulnerabilities could result in scarcity at launch. According to reports, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the series’ most expensive model, will be the most affected.
Although Apple has a history of releasing new iPhone models in September, the iPhone X and iPhone XR were launched in September but did not hit shelves until October. According to prior reports, the iPhone 15 series, which includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, would be released in September.
