Eye infections or acute conjunctivitis incidences are on the rise across the nation. Doctors at the prestigious institution claimed that on Saturday, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences reported almost 100 cases daily. Here are five techniques to guard against contracting this infection:
Maintain proper hygiene by regularly washing your hands with soap and water. Do not contact your eyes with dirty hands. Don’t give strangers access to your towels, eye makeup, contacts, or contact lens cases. Dr. Soveeta Rath, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology, was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, “It is necessary to maintain hygiene and keep our personal belongings separate, like towel hankies not to be shared to avoid spreading to other family members, and seek prompt medical help to manage these conditions effectively.
Here are the precaution of Conjunctivitis
Stay away from touching your eyes: Touching your eyes can raise the risk of spreading diseases. Use a tissue or wash your hands both before and after touching your eyes.
Keep your contact lenses clean: If you wear contact lenses, be careful to practise good hygiene. Regularly disinfect and clean your lenses, and stay away from wearing them if you have itchy or red eyes.
Wear protective eyewear to protect your eyes from irritants that could cause conjunctivitis if there is a lot of dust or pollution in the area where you are.
Maintain good respiratory hygiene since viral infections that are transmitted by respiratory droplets might result in conjunctivitis. Keep your distance and avoid close contact if the person you’re near is experiencing respiratory symptoms like coughing or sneezing. Encourage them to cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing to maintain excellent respiratory hygiene.
