ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: India to play Pakistan on Oct 14

The ICC revealed on Wednesday that the headline World Cup match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will now be played on October 14, one day earlier than the original date, as the world governing body announced the rescheduling of nine tournament fixtures.

According to the most recent update, Pakistan and England will have three of their games rescheduled (either date or time), while India’s two games have had their schedules changed.

The other postponed India game is their last league match against the Netherlands, which was originally slated for November 12 but will now be held on November 11 in Bengaluru.

India-Pakistan Match

PTI has reported that the India-Pakistan match would be moved up by a day due to security services’ inability to provide appropriate security on October 15, the first day of the Hindu holiday of Navratri.

As a result, England’s match versus Afghanistan in New Delhi will be rescheduled for Sunday, October 15, rather than Saturday, October 14.

Due to the necessity for a sufficient interval before India’s game, Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka, which was scheduled for October 11 in Hyderabad, will now be played on October 10.

England was originally slated to play Bangladesh in a day-night game at Dharmsala on the same day, but will now play a day match beginning at 10.30 a.m.

Similarly, the high-profile non-India game between England and Pakistan, which was originally planned for November 12, has been moved to November 11.

Kali Puja, which falls on November 12, is the second most important Hindu festival for Bengalis after Durga Puja, and the Kolkata Police had expressed concern about providing appropriate deployment for the game.

The game between New Zealand and Bangladesh, which was initially planned for October 14 in Chennai, has been pushed back to Friday, October 13, and will now be a day-night contest.

On October 12, Australia will play South Africa in Lucknow.

All of the venues for the rescheduled games remain the same.

INDvPAK Tickets Sale

The tickets will go on sale on August 25, with fans able to reserve seats for all non-India warm-up and event matches.

Tickets for India matches will be available from August 30 to September 3, and tickets for the semifinals and finals will be available on September 15.
