Akshay Kumar is returning, this time as Lord Shiva in his upcoming film Oh My God 2. He posted the teaser to Instagram with the message “Rakh vishwas (have faith).” It depicts him in a shirtless avatar with long dreadlocks and ash sprinkled on his forehead, channelling Lord Shiva for his follower, Pankaj Tripathi.
OMG 2 teaser
While the original Oh My God starred Paresh Rawal as an atheist, Pankaj Tripathi plays Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devotee of Lord Shiva. The teaser begins with Pankaj Tripathi’s voiceover saying that a human being can establish God’s presence by being either a believer or an atheist, but God always comes to the aid of someone in need.
In the first chapter, it mentions Paresh’s story and goes on to depict how Pankaj Tripathi’s Kanti Sharan Mudgal worships Lord Shiva with zeal and glimpses of his family’s tragedy. There is also a vision of a child committing suicide beneath a locomotive.
Yami Gautam also stars in OMG 2
However, there is no appearance of Yami Gautam, who portrays a lawyer in the film. Oh My God 2, directed by Amit Rai, is a sequel to the original, in which Akshay played Lord Krishna.
Yami debuted her OMG 2 outfit last week. She captioned an Instagram photo of herself from the film, “Miliye Kamini Maheshwari se. #OMG2 in theatres on August 11!”
Yami previously told Bollywood Hungama about working on OMG 2, “He (Akshay) is also a very good producer, and someone who is very passionate about this film.” I could tell from the narrative that he is determined to succeed with the proper team. Of course, any opportunity I had to work with Pankaj Tripathi ji, a brilliant performer, was a bonus. With the new writing, there is another perspective that is very relevant, discussed, but not discussed. That will be intriguing to watch.”
In theatres, OMG 2 will compete alongside Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2. It is said to star Arun Govil as Lord Rama and Govind Namdev, who also appeared in OMG.
