YouTube Make: Simplifying Video Creation with AI-Powered Tools

YouTube released a new video editing software, YouTube make, in an effort to “allow anyone to create or share videos.” The app, which was announced at the Made on YouTube event on Thursday, is presently in beta for Android in select regions including India, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Korea, and Singapore, with iOS support due in 2024.

“We know the production process for videos can be difficult and frequently prevents that first-time creator from uploading their first video,” the firm stated at the Made on YouTube event. We’re releasing a new mobile app called YouTube make to expedite this process and allow anybody to make and upload films directly to YouTube.”

According to the company YouTube Create is a free tool aimed to make video production “simpler and easier” for both short and lengthy projects, allowing producers to spend their efforts on things that are “creatively rewarding.”

Precision editing trimming, automated captioning, stories, and transitions are among the capabilities of the new generative AI-powered software. The software will also let users to select from a library of royalty-free music using beat-matching technology akin to TikTok.

YouTube claims that the new app was designed with input from about 3,000 producers. The firm also pledges to introduce more features and capabilities over time.

YouTube also announced that it would begin testing a new experimental tool called Dream Screen, which will allow artists to add AI-generated video or picture backdrops to their Shorts by just putting a concept into a prompt.

“We’ll begin introducing Dream Screen to select creators before rolling it out more broadly next year.” YouTube stated in a blog post.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai also announced the new Dream Screen feature in a post on X, writing, “Just announced at today’s #MadeOnYouTube event: Dream Screen lets creators type in an idea to produce an AI-generated video or image background, and creators can use YouTube Create to make video production much easier.”
